About Dare 2 Create
Dare 2 Create began a few years ago as a creative challenge between artists Andy Skinner and Tracy Weinzapfel. Both ambassadors for DecoArt, but living thousands of miles apart on different continents, they wanted a way to work collaboratively that could be achieved virtually and would be creativity challenging but fun and free. And so Dare 2 Create was born.
Since then Andy and Tracy have been able to physically create artwork together and have run Dare 2 Create demonstrations and live video streams from craft shows like CHA. They take a single piece of work and create together, each adding a layer to the piece in turn until they feel the work is complete, amalgamating their styles into a single (usually!) cohesive piece.
Taking the concept to its logical next level, Andy and Tracy now offer Dare 2 Create as a live, interactive workshop. They teach together, taking the tuition in turn, to deliver a dynamic and creative learning experience that enables students to grow their skills but also to experiment and embrace their own creativity. Alongside their extensive experience and knowledge, with the Dare 2 Create concept comes a double act to rival Laurel and Hardy, as the camaraderie and chemistry between these artists brings a whole new dimension to fun to the learning environment.
The Dare 2 Create experience is available to book for large groups of students or as a weekend retreat. If you book a retreat, Tracy and Andy each deliver half day mixed media workshops on day one and students get the Dare 2 Create experience on day two. Each student experiences three technique-heavy mixed media programmes with very different yet complimentary styles, and is guaranteed to learn a host of new skills.
Andy is a well-known mixed media artist and experienced tutor. He travels the world delivering workshops on mixed media, altered art and assemblage, as well as offering a range of online video workshops and YouTube tutorials. He also works as Executive Creative Consultant for DecoArt for whom he developed a fantastic line of mixed media products and stencils (which you’ll love using at the workshops).
Andy’s style could be described as ‘industrial gothic’ and he is particularly known for his faux metal and antiquing techniques. He is also a skilled fine artist working in acrylics and a trained ceramist – a man of many talents!
Andy also has his own line of rubber art stamps, stencils and substrates.
Tracy is a published multi-medium artist whose signature style is showcased in bright and joy-filled canvases and art journal pages.
Tracy is a freelance full-time licensed artist and teacher who is passionate about sharing her skills and love of art with others. She is a regular fixture at teaching venues and shows in the USA and beyond.
She also hosts a weekly online show, Mixed Media Mondays, encouraging others to let their inner artist out!
Tracy also has her own line of fabulous art stamps with Dare2BArtzy. Her experience and enthusiasm are evident in everything she does – art really is her life’s calling.
